Custom Checkout Forms

Custom checkout forms let you choose which information buyers provide in your event's ticket shop. You can organize fields into sections, make fields required, and apply validation rules so the information is collected consistently.

Organization Defaults and Event Forms

Checkout forms can be configured at two levels:

  • Organization default: The template copied to every event created after you save it
  • Event checkout form: The independent form used by one event's ticket shop

Changing the organization default does not update existing events. To change the form for an existing event, edit that event's checkout form directly.

Configure the Organization Default

  1. Open your organization settings
  2. Select the Default checkout form tab
  3. Configure the sections and fields
  4. Click Submit

Use the organization default when most of your events need the same buyer information.

Configure an Event Form

  1. Open the event in your dashboard
  2. Go to Event settings
  3. Select the Checkout form tab
  4. Configure the sections and fields
  5. Click Update

The saved form is shown to buyers during checkout in the same section and field order as the editor.

Working with Sections

Sections group related questions into steps in the checkout flow.

  • Click Add section to create a section, then enter its title
  • Use the edit button to rename a section
  • Drag movable sections to change their order
  • Delete a section to remove it and all of its fields from future checkouts

The built-in Personal Details section is always first and cannot be moved or deleted. You can rename it and add other fields to it.

Adding and Arranging Fields

Add a field by clicking it in the Add fields panel or dragging it into a section. Fields can also be dragged within a section or between sections.

The following field types are available:

Field typeUse it for
TextShort answers such as a company name or membership number
ParagraphLonger free-form answers
NumberNumeric answers with optional minimum and maximum values
DateDates such as a date of birth
DropdownChoosing one option from a visible list
AutocompleteSearching and choosing one option from a longer list
CheckboxYes/no questions or confirmations

The Country preset adds an autocomplete field with a ready-made list of countries.

Configure a Field

Depending on the field type, you can configure:

  • Label: The question or name buyers see
  • Required: Whether buyers must complete the field before continuing
  • Validation: Email or phone formatting for text fields
  • Options: The labels and stored values available in dropdown and autocomplete fields
  • Minimum and maximum: The allowed range for number fields
  • Minimum and maximum length: The allowed answer length for text and paragraph fields

A field key is generated when a new field is first saved. This stable identifier is shown in the editor but cannot be changed later.

Email, first name, and last name are required system fields. They cannot be edited, moved, or deleted because they are needed to identify the buyer and process the order. Other fields in the default form can be changed or removed.

Saving a Form

The organization or event save button is disabled while the form is incomplete. Before saving, make sure:

  • Every section has a title
  • Every field has a label and a unique field key
  • Every dropdown and autocomplete field has at least one complete option
  • A number field's minimum value does not exceed its maximum value

Fields with configuration problems are outlined in red in the editor.

Submitted Answers

Submitted checkout form answers are stored with the order and can be viewed or edited in Order Details. If you later delete a field, answers already collected remain available on existing orders; the field is only removed from future checkouts.

The event analytics Field breakdown can group completed orders by dropdown, autocomplete, number, and checkbox answers. Text, paragraph, and date fields are not available for this chart.

Best Practices

  • Keep the form as short as possible to reduce checkout friction
  • Use the organization default for questions that apply to most new events
  • Use an event form for questions that are specific to one event
  • Group related fields into clearly named sections
  • Use dropdowns or autocomplete fields when you need consistent answers for analytics
  • Avoid deleting or replacing a field when you only need to update its label

Next Steps

After configuring your checkout form, you may want to:

  1. Customize the styling of your ticket shop
  2. Review order details and submitted answers
  3. Explore event analytics
