Using the Scanner App

This guide provides instructions on how to use the mobile scanner app to check in attendees at your events.

Getting Started

Signing In with Your Ticxz Account

If you are a dashboard user, you can sign in with your own Ticxz account:

  1. Open the Scanner page in the dashboard on your mobile browser
  2. Tap Open App
  3. You may be asked to re-enter your password to confirm your identity
  4. The scanner app will open and sign you in automatically

This does not create a scanner — you are signed in as yourself with full dashboard-user access.

Signing In as a Scanner Device

If a scanner has been created for you in the dashboard, you can activate it on your device:

  • QR Sign-in: Scan the QR code shown when a scanner is selected on the Scanner page
  • Token Sign-in: Manually enter a scanner token

This is meant for people outside the organization or people who shouldn't have access to the dashboard.

Scanning Tickets

  1. Point your device's camera at the attendee's ticket QR code
  2. Hold steady until the code is recognized
  3. The app will display the scan result immediately

Scan Results

The app provides instant feedback on each scan:

  • Valid: The ticket is valid and has been checked in (or checked out, depending on the mode)
  • Invalid: The ticket is not valid or has already been used
  • Error: The ticket could not be validated

Scan Modes

You can switch between four scanning modes from the bottom sheet menu:

  • Check-in: Mark attendees as arrived (default mode)
  • Check-out: Mark previously checked-in attendees as left
  • Check Valid: Verify a ticket is valid without recording a check-in
  • Info: View ticket details without making any changes

Filters

Both Scan and Admin permission levels can use filters:

  • Ticket Type Filter: Only accept specific ticket types
  • Time Slot Filter: Only accept tickets for specific time slots
  • Date Filter: Filter by date range

These filters are useful when you have multiple entry points or need to separate attendees by ticket type.

Stats (Admin Only)

Scanners with Admin permission can view check-in stats, such as how many people are checked in for the event.

Tips for Scanning

  • Hold the device about 15-20 cm from the QR code
  • Ensure the QR code is well-lit and not obscured
  • Keep the device steady while scanning
  • Fully charge your device before the event and bring a power bank for long events
