Ticket Types

Ticket types allow you to offer different pricing options for your event. This guide explains how to create and manage ticket types.

Understanding Ticket Types

Ticket types are different categories of tickets that you can sell for your event, each with its own:

  • Name and description
  • Price
  • Quantity available
  • Sales period
  • Maximum per order

Common examples include General Admission, VIP, Early Bird, and Student tickets.

Creating Ticket Types

To create a new ticket type:

  1. Navigate to the Tickets page from the dashboard
  2. Click the "Ticket Type" button
  3. Fill in the ticket details (explained below)
  4. Click "Create" to create the ticket type

Ticket Type Settings

When creating or editing a ticket type, you can configure the following:

Basic Information

  • Name: The ticket type name (e.g., "General Admission", "VIP")
  • Description: Optional details about what's included with this ticket
  • Active: Whether the ticket is currently available for sale
  • Price: How much the ticket costs (minimum 1.00, maximum 1000.00)
  • No. for sale: Total quantity available for this ticket type (standard events only)

Advanced Options

  • Sales Start: When this ticket type becomes available for purchase (standard and seated events)
  • Sales End: When sales for this ticket type close (standard and seated events)
  • Max tickets per order: Maximum number of this ticket type that can be purchased in a single order (1-99)

For time-slotted events, quantity and sales dates are managed per time slot rather than on the ticket type itself.

For seated events, the ticket type's price and sales dates still apply, but quantity is managed per allocation on the seat map, not on the ticket type. Each allocation on a seat or GA area carves out a slice of that element's capacity for the ticket type. See Seated Events for how allocations work.

Managing Ticket Types

After creating ticket types, you can:

  • Edit: Modify any ticket type details including name, description, price, and availability
  • Activate/Deactivate: Toggle the active status to control whether a ticket type is available for sale
  • Delete: Remove a ticket type, with the following restrictions:
    • You cannot delete a ticket type that has already been sold
    • For time-slotted events, you cannot delete a ticket type that is used in a slot
    • For seated events, you cannot delete a ticket type that is referenced by an allocation on the seat map

The ticket types page also shows the stock status for each ticket type, displaying how many tickets have been sold out of the total available.

Ticket Type Strategies

Tiered Pricing

Create multiple ticket types with increasing prices to encourage early purchases:

  • Early Bird: Lower price, limited quantity
  • Regular: Standard price, available after Early Bird sells out
  • Last Minute: Higher price, available close to the event date

Audience Segmentation

Offer different prices for different audience segments:

  • Standard: Regular price for most attendees
  • Student: Discounted price for students
  • Group: Discounted per-ticket price for bulk purchases

Best Practices

  • Use clear, descriptive names for ticket types
  • Provide details in the description about what each ticket includes
  • Use the sales start and end dates to create urgency with limited-time ticket types
  • Monitor sales via the analytics dashboard to adjust your strategy

Next Steps

After setting up your ticket types, you may want to:

  1. Organize ticket types into groups for a better shop experience
  2. Set event-level ticket limits to cap total sales or basket size
  3. Create promo codes for special discounts
  4. Customize the styling of your ticket shop
  5. Assign ticket types to seats on a seated event
