Scanner App

The Scanner App is a mobile application that allows you to check in attendees at your events by scanning their ticket QR codes. This guide provides an overview of how the scanner system works.

Overview

There are two ways to use the scanner app:

Sign in with your Ticxz account: Open the scanner app from the dashboard using the Open App button. This signs you in with your own account — it does not create a scanner. You have full access as a dashboard user.
Use a scanner device: Create a scanner in the dashboard and activate it on a device by scanning a QR code. Scanners are meant for people outside the organization, or people who shouldn't have access to the dashboard but need to check in tickets on-site.

How Scanners Work

Install the scanner app on the device that will be used on-site
On the Scanner page in the dashboard, create a new scanner and select it to generate a QR code
On the device running the scanner app, go to QR Sign-in and scan the QR code to activate the scanner
The scanner can then be used to scan attendee ticket QR codes at your event

Scanner Permission Levels

Each scanner has a permission level that controls what it can do:

Scan: Can scan and validate tickets and use filters
Admin: Can scan tickets, use filters, and view stats (e.g. how many people are checked in)

Scan Modes

The mobile scanner app supports four scanning modes:

Check-in: Mark a ticket as checked in (the default mode)
Check-out: Mark a previously checked-in ticket as checked out
Check Valid: Verify that a ticket is valid without changing its status
Info: View ticket information without any validation or status change

Scanner Statuses

Each scanner in the dashboard has a status:

New: Created but not yet activated by the mobile app
Active: Successfully initialized and ready to scan
Expired: The scanner's expiration time has passed
Revoked: Access has been manually revoked
