Ticket Limits
Ticket limits allow you to set event-level caps on ticket sales. This feature is available for standard (one-off) events only and complements the per-ticket-type quantity and maximum-per-order settings.
Understanding Ticket Limits
There are two event-level limits you can configure:
- Max total tickets — a hard cap on the total number of tickets sold or reserved across all ticket types combined. Once this cap is reached, the event is shown as sold out in the shop regardless of remaining per-type stock.
- Max tickets per basket — limits how many tickets a single buyer can add to their cart in one session, across all ticket types combined.
Both limits are independent of each other and can be enabled separately.
Configuring Ticket Limits
To configure ticket limits:
- Navigate to the Tickets page from the dashboard
- Switch to the "Limits" tab (standard events only)
- Enable the limits you want to apply using the toggles
- Enter the values and click Update
Settings
Max total tickets
When enabled, no more tickets can be added to any basket once the combined sold and reserved count across all ticket types reaches this number. In the shop, all ticket types will show as sold out.
Set this when you have a strict venue capacity that applies across all ticket categories.
Max tickets per basket
When enabled, a buyer cannot add more than this number of tickets to their cart in a single session, regardless of ticket type.
Set this to prevent bulk buying or to encourage fair access during high-demand sales.
Shop Behavior
- When the max total tickets cap is reached, the add button is disabled for all ticket types and each row displays "Sold out".
- When a buyer's basket reaches the max tickets per basket limit, the add button is disabled for all ticket types for the remainder of that session.
- These checks are enforced both in the shop UI and on the server when tickets are added to the basket.
Best Practices
- Use max total tickets when your venue has a strict overall capacity that spans multiple ticket categories (e.g., 500 total regardless of whether they're General Admission or VIP).
- Use max tickets per basket to prevent bulk buying and ensure more attendees have fair access during high-demand events.
- These limits work alongside the per-ticket-type No. for sale and Max tickets per order settings — whichever limit is reached first takes effect.
